7th July 2007 marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Walter Johannes Stein, whose work remains pivotal for the furtherance of Steiner’s work in modern economic life. Providing a direct link with Steiner and Britain and an historian in his own right, Stein did much to deepen our understanding of the issues, both practical and esoteric, that underlie modern economic life. He worked closely, of course, with Daniel Dunlop, another important individuality. For some, of course, both these men are problematical and yet the work they undertook in the 1930s especially remains a mine of valuable research and far-reaching insights which we would like to draw attention to in 2007.
